What is the theme of the photo competition?

The theme for the 2018 LoCAL photo competition is:

ACT LoCAL
SHOW GLOBAL
What is LoCAL?
Since 2012, LoCAL acts at local levels, where climate change impacts the most vulnerable, with support from the EU’s Global Climate Change Alliance and SIDA. LoCAL started piloting the mechanism in Bhutan and Cambodia in 2011 and has since been adopted in over 12 countries, in Africa, Asia and the Pacific.

LoCAL works in the Least Developing Countries that are the most vulnerable to climate change impacts due to their geography, low adaptive capacities and lack of infrastructure. LoCAL enables local governments to climate proof their development by giving them a powerful set of tools to integrate climate change adaptation planning and budgeting, with funding support to pilot and scale adaptation actions. In the process, LoCAL brings strategic support and works with each country to help local government access global funds.

Why a Photo Competition?
This photo competition is a celebration of this new and emerging global yet very local network. It is an invitation to everyone that has contributed or has interest in anyway to the LoCAL approach, from near or far.
Lets’ proudly show how local governments are finding ways to better respond to climate impacts and build resilience of the most vulnerable communities. We can show the world that by taking local action, local actors are leading the way and scaling climate adaptation at global levels.

Who can participate?
This photo competition is open to the public. Anyone can join particularly if:
  • you think that local action is the best way to respond to local climate impacts and vulnerabilities.
  • you care about how local governments can help people better adapt to climate change.
  • you are able to document any project of LoCAL in any of the LoCAL countries, or have already taken photos of a LoCAL project
If you ticked all of the above, then this photo-competition is made for you!

Good Luck !
